Patrick studied general art and design at Lincoln College of Art before starting his career as an editorial photographer. He began working for EMAP as a junior photographer and at 21 went freelance. With his interest in motorsport photography he soon found himself traveling Europe in a VW combi van photographing motorcycle races for MotorCycle News. In 1989, he moved to London to work for a major motor sports agency, learning the business of sponsorship photography. In 1993, he joined forces with his biggest competitor to form Gold&Goose, a world-renowned agency that rapidly became the leader in bike sport sponsorship photography. The opportunity to move into Formula One came in 2002, which saw the start of a 12-year relationship with the sport, working with both Ferrari and McLaren. In 2007, Patrick began to work more closely with McLaren Automotive, the British Supercar manufacturer. He was looking after all of their road and race car related photography along with his team of freelance photographers, retouchers and videographers. In 2010 he set-up Beadyeye to run as an agency specialising in automotive, sponsorship and event photography for many global brands.
